For twenty years, APG|SGA has been reporting transparently and comprehensively on annual developments in the area of sustainability. The 2022 Sustainability Report marks the 20th report to date, providing information on the status of measures implemented and targets set as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. The grade of A- in the CDP Climate Change Score demonstrates that APG|SGA is playing a leading role in reporting on climate protection. The company is also on track to meet its ambitious multi-year targets for ‘net-zero emissions by 2035’.
For over twenty years, APG|SGA has placed particular emphasis on climate protection and reducing its environmental impact. Markus Ehrle, CEO of APG|SGA, says: “We are making solid progress when it comes to implementing the Paris Agreement and the 1.5-degree target. Last year, despite a significant increase in business activity, our company managed to limit the rise in CO₂ emissions to 2 per cent and the overall environmental impact to 4 per cent. The reasons for this development were, in addition to the consistently implemented CSR strategy, voluntary and, in some cases, drastic energy-saving measures. These were implemented in line with the federal government’s Energy Saving Alliance and supported by the entire workforce.”
On the path to net zero
APG|SGA’s understanding of sustainability, which has evolved over decades, is firmly embedded at the heart of the company and is becoming increasingly important. For this reason, APG|SGA established the Sustainability Management Unit last year and, with Andres Trautmann has been appointed. He says: “Over the next few years, we want to complete the transition to becoming a net-zero company. To this end, we are evaluating all our processes and defining the necessary and realistic steps that will enable us to achieve permanent emissions reductions.” In 2023, APG|SGA aims to achieve its ambitious reduction targets set out in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and exert greater influence over their indirect emissions. In addition, APG|SGA is promoting environmentally conscious products and services to support its customers and partners.
Social responsibility as a key cornerstone of sustainable coexistence
In addition to climate protection, APG|SGA has set itself high standards and targets for social responsibility as part of its holistic CSR strategy: APG|SGA is proud of its diversity. The company supports diversity and promotes gender balance. Furthermore, in 2022, an anonymous whistleblowing scheme was introduced as a key element of a transparent and secure corporate culture. The workplace health management programme (BGM) contributes to well-being in the workplace.
In addition, social and cultural partnerships are being further nurtured and expanded. Through billboard sponsorship, APG|SGA supports various non-profit, cultural and sporting organisations to the tune of tens of millions – including, amongst other things, as the organiser of the Swiss Out of Home Awards and other Creative competitions in the ‘Out of Home Media’ category.
