13 December 2022

APG|SGA demonstrates consistency in its commitment to sustainability and has committed to an ambitious CO₂ reduction pathway. In the climate ranking compiled by the global environmental organisation CDP, APG|SGA was awarded an A- rating for its strategy and its implementation.

APG|SGA has been awarded an A- rating by the non-profit environmental organisation CDP in recognition of its commitment to corporate transparency and climate protection. APG|SGA is therefore among the companies that play a pioneering role in sustainability on a global scale. This development is in line with the consistent implementation of APG|SGA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and the continuous intensification of its efforts.

Markus Ehrle, CEO of APG|SGA, says: “We have been participating in CDP reporting since 2017 and keep our stakeholders openly informed about our CSR strategy. Our consistently good ‘A-’ rating in the CDP ranking is both a confirmation and an incentive for us. It confirms that we are on the right track with our measures for more sustainable outdoor advertising, and it spurs us on to continue along this path. This means that, even in challenging times, we are utilising our many years of experience and our networks to implement important sustainability measures.”

Examples of APG|SGA’s commitment to climate action

  • APG|SGA has set itself ambitious climate protection targets and aims to halve its net CO₂ emissions by 2027 compared with 2017, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

  • APG|SGA is investing in a new solar power system at its Zurich site and in the operation of electric commercial and business vehicles.

  • APG|SGA uses 100 per cent ‘naturemade star’ green energy from renewable sources; furthermore, optimisations to building services, initiatives within the value chain and energy-saving product innovations are helping to ensure that the company remains on track to meet its climate target.

CDP raises the bar every year
Using a comprehensive questionnaire, the CDP assesses annually whether companies are effectively contributing to limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared with pre-industrial levels. The disclosure and assessment process of the non-profit organisation CDP is recognised as the ‘gold standard’ for transparency in environmental performance and corporate responsibility. The CDP uses a detailed and independent methodology to assess participating companies and rates them on a scale from A (best result) to D-. This takes into account criteria such as the completeness of disclosure, awareness of and management of environmental risks, and the implementation of best practices relating to environmental leadership, alongside the setting of ambitious, meaningful and evidence-based targets. The standards set by the CDP questionnaire are refined and raised each year to ensure that even highly rated companies are required to demonstrate continuous improvement.
