APG|SGA focuses on the efficient use of energy. Where renewable energy sources are available, these are utilised. Since 2012, 100 per cent of our electricity has come from renewable sources. As for our vehicles, a significant proportion of the fleet runs on natural gas and, in some cases, biogas. Gas as a fuel not only emits less CO₂, but also releases fewer pollutants harmful to health, such as particulate matter. Nevertheless, we intend to rely increasingly on electric vehicles in future and are currently preparing for a nationwide roll-out through intensive, targeted testing.
The expansion of the digital offering and illuminated display units over recent years has not led to any increase in environmental impact since 2012. This has been made possible by the purchase of 100% green electricity bearing the ‘naturemade star’ label and the simultaneous launch of a programme to optimise the lighting concept in illuminated advertising structures. Since 2023, the roofs of APG|SGA premises have also been fitted with photovoltaic systems.
‘naturemade’ is the trusted quality label for renewable and green energy, resource efficiency and energy neutrality. The green energy comes from 100 per cent renewable sources such as water, the sun, biomass and wind, and also guarantees compliance with strict and comprehensive environmental standards. During production, care is taken to respect nature – that is, the plants and animals living in the surrounding area. This is particularly important because the ever-increasing use of renewable sources has an impact on living conditions and, consequently, on biodiversity.
Since 2012, APG|SGA has met its entire electricity requirements using ‘naturemade star’ energy from Swiss hydropower. This includes the electricity required at all our sites, as well as the nationwide demand for all light boxes, digital advertising displays and illuminated advertising posters in car parks.
