As part of the redevelopment and redesign of Bahnhofstrasse, the city of Chur has examined various forms of advertising. The new advertising structures were intended to serve as vibrant and aesthetically pleasing features right in the heart of the city centre – whilst at the same time integrating respectfully and in a space-saving manner into the popular and attractive surroundings. Another key objective was for the advertising structures to provide an attractive source of revenue for the city.

VBSG (Verkehrsbetriebe St. Gallen) was able to significantly expand its bus network thanks to rising demand. This also led to an increased need for new bus shelters. As part of a design competition organised by the City of St. Gallen, the aim was to evaluate the most suitable design. A timeless and functional design, along with transparent environmental considerations, were among the most important deciding factors.

The bus shelters were manufactured exclusively by APG|SGA, drawing on the company’s many years of experience. They were installed in stages – in close coordination with the VBSG’s planning team. Only FSC-certified timber was used in their production, and the integrated lighting is powered by environmentally sustainable electricity.

The town of Montreux wanted to provide the various political groups with a clearly defined number of billboard spaces during elections and referendums. The additional demand was to be met by temporary billboard sites that were centrally located and therefore highly visible, whilst blending elegantly into the townscape.

In collaboration with the City of Montreux, the locations were carefully identified and fitted with ground sockets. Depending on demand, the temporary advertising hoardings can be put in place quickly and easily, and removed again after elections or referendums.

Stadtbus Winterthur wanted to further expand its bus network in response to increased demand. This created a need for new bus shelters. These were to have a modern look and be highly functional, in order to improve the passenger experience. They were also intended to boost the revenue potential of the city’s bus services.

Following a targeted site selection process, several City ePanel locations were established. They were designed specifically for this project and therefore blend in perfectly with the new bus shelters without compromising their advertising impact. The cost of the bus shelters was covered entirely through the sale of advertising space on the digital displays.

New additional revenue for Stadtbus Winterthur
Following the completion of the ShopVille extension, the City of Zurich’s Property Management Department evaluated new forms of digital advertising through a comprehensive tender process. This assessment took into account the architecturally distinguished surroundings, the high volume of footfall and the escape routes, which were under no circumstances to be obstructed by any additional elements.

Careful site selection to ensure the optimal integration of modern, digital advertising media into ShopVille Zurich. All advertising spaces are to be integrated into the existing building facades and installed flush with the surface. Despite the highly challenging nature of the integration, a business plan that is very attractive to the city was presented.
