Milestone in digital outdoor advertising in Winterthur

In October 2014, APG|SGA and Stadtbus Winterthur will be joining forces to create a network of eight digital advertising media in prime locations. The network will set new standards in Winterthur for high-quality digital advertising in urban spaces.

In a move that highlights its innovative approach, Stadtbus Winterthur is installing APG|SGA digital City ePanels in eight newly-built, modern concourses. The new advertising media will also be an important additional source of revenue for the transport company. The high-quality 72-inch full-HD screens, dotted around the city in prime locations, will form a new and attractive network for advertising customers and liven up the bus stops. As well as individual and flexible booking options, including one-day displays, the ePanels can accommodate simple animations and moving images. The 60-second loop allows four customers or institutions to convey their communication content and advertising messages in a persuasive way for 15 seconds each.

Modern, urban city furniture of the highest quality
As part of a comprehensive project involving experts at Stadtbus Winterthur and the municipal authorities, the digital advertising media have been carefully and inventively incorporated in the urban space, in harmony with the modern cityscape. The digital advertising spaces provide the ideal communication platform, in the heart of the city of Winterthur, for regional trade, the municipal authorities and cultural institutions as well as national advertising clients. As an added bonus, Stadtbus Winterthur's passengers benefit from new, ultra-modern concourses.
As the trial run on Bellevue in the city of Zurich in the summer and autumn of 2013 demonstrated, City ePanels enjoy high rates of acceptance and approval among the public. APG|SGA is therefore confident that the superb quality digital advertising space will be implemented in other municipal and transport company projects. City Councillor Dr. Matthias Gfeller, who is Head of the Technical Operations Department, is delighted about the additional revenue that will be generated by the new advertising media. The income will ease the strain on the municipal budget by helping to cover cleaning and maintenance costs at the concourses and bus stops belonging to the network. «This means we will definitely be able to maintain the current high standards in regard to cleanliness and maintenance, despite the pressure to make savings.»
